COVENTRY Blaze came from three goals down to beat Manchester Storm before securing a shootout victory against Belfast Giants.
Blaze produced a stirring second period comeback against Storm before Blake Thompson scored the only goal in the third period to secure a 4-3 win at Planet Ice Altrincham.
And Ian McNulty scored the decisive penalty in a 3-2 victory against Belfast at the Skydome Arena as Coventry sealed a fourth straight success in the league,
The results mean Blaze sit fifth in the Elite League table just three points behind Belfast in second.
Against Manchester, the home side took the lead at 14.54 when Tyler Hinam set up Samuel Tremblay for the game’s opening goal.
And Storm doubled their lead at 17.27 through Cameron Critchlow with Hinam turning provider before Tremblay scored his second at 28.27 to leave Blaze with a mountain to climb.
However, Coventry reduced the deficit at 33.47 courtesy of Aidan Spellacy’s unassisted back-hand effort before Tyler Kirkup made the most of a defensive mix-up at 37.59.
And Kim Tallberg completed a remarkable second period comeback just 44 seconds later to tie the game up.
Blaze scored the game-winning goal at 55.25 as Thompson beat Storm netminder Evan Weninger from the blue-line thanks to a screen provided by Spellacy and Alessio Luciani.
Coventry keeper Nolan Kent made two big saves at the death, after Storm had a late powerplay opportunity with Weninger pulled for the extra skater, as Blaze held to record an impressive victory.
On home ice against Belfast, Blaze eventually triumphed on penalties after Kobe Roth opened the scoring on 35 seconds from McNulty’s pass.
And Blaze captain Brady Norrish doubled Coventry’s lead at 14.57 on the powerplay, blasting a first time shot past Jackson Whistle in the Belfast goal.
Giants halved the deficit at 30.58 as Ciaran Long turned a bobbling puck past Blaze netminder Taran Kozun.
And Belfast equalised through Sean Norris at 49.14 before the visitors had Travis Brown ejected from the game for for checking to the head of JD Dudek.
The Giants survived the final 24 seconds of regulation time and the entirety of overtime with a man less with the game decided via a shootout.
And Danny Kristo, Dudek and McNulty all scored for Blaze with Giants were unable to beat Kozun in the Blaze net.
Coventry are next in action at home to Sheffield Steelers on Wednesday, January 24 in the first leg of their Challenge Cup semi-final with the face-off at 7.30pm at the Skydome.
