COVENTRY Blaze head coach Kevin Moore has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Elite League club.
Moore will also take on the responsibility of director of hockey operations after enjoying a fine first season in charge of Blaze.
The 36-year-old replaced long-serving head coach Danny Stewart in the Skydome Arena hotseat last May.
Moore said: “When I was initially hired, I felt like it was a perfect fit and I think it is has proven that as the season has gone on.
“I’ve loved everything about living and coaching in Coventry. I appreciate our fanbase and how loud the Skydome has been this season.
“I am excited to roll it back and hopefully be here for a long time.”
Blaze managing director, Mike Cowley added: “We’re delighted to have secured Kevin as head coach for another two years and have expanded his role to include director of hockey operations.
“Since coming on board, he has brought a new energy and impetus to the club, and we’re eager to build on this momentum.
“This extension gives Kevin the opportunity to begin shaping his team for next season well in advance – and maybe even enjoy a well-deserved break this summer.”
Blaze have recorded 24 regular season wins, achieving a 0.58 points percentage, along with five Challenge Cup victories.
Coventry also boast the league’s best powerplay conversion rate at 26.97 per cent and have the second-ranked penalty kill at 82.24 per cent.
Moore’s summer recruits have impressed on the ice with Chase Gresock top of the goalscoring chart with 25 goals while Mike Regush tops the assist chart with 32 assists.
Moore has also worked closely with Blaze’s academy, delivering training sessions and fostering player development at youth level.
