COVENTRY Blaze romped to a remarkable 6-0 win against Glasgow Clan to maintain their perfect start to the Elite League season.
Following a goalless first period, Kim Tallberg put Blaze ahead at 31.46 on the powerplay before Mike Regush doubled the away side’s lead at 38.49.
And Blaze made the perfect start to the third period when Chase Gresock found the net just 23 seconds after the restart.
Coventry extended their lead at 43.44 as Alexander Kuqali scored with Clan short-handed to further deflate the sold-out Braehead Arena.
A stunning powerplay goal from Zach Heintz at 45.23 put the game to bed before Alessio Luciani completed the scoring at 58.07 with Clan again short-handed.
That came after Blaze produced a scintillating third period comeback to beat reigning Grand Slam champions Sheffield Steelers 4-2 at the Skydome Arena.
Final period goals from Jakob Stridsberg, Gresock and Heintz sealed a memorable win for Blaze after Brandon Alderson netted in the first period.
The results mean Blaze sit second in the Elite League standings with Kevin Moore’s side the only team to win all of their league matches so far this season.
Coventry are next in Elite League action away at Belfast Giants on Saturday, October 19 with the face-off at 7pm at SSE Arena Belfast.
Blaze then host Cardiff Devils in the Challenge Cup on Sunday, October 20 with the face-off at 5.30pm at the Skydome.
