COVENTRY Blaze continued their perfect start to pre-season with a patient 4-1 victory against Dutch side Tilburg Trappers.
Blaze came from behind to seal a second pre-season win as Elijiah Barriga struck twice while William Boysen and Colton Saucerman both found the net at the Skydome Arena.
After a goalless first period, Tilburg broke the deadlock at 23.39 when Matt McLeod pounced on a rebound from Donny van Belkom’s initial shot to beat Mat Robson in the Blaze net.
However, Blaze hit back less than five minutes later as Barriga finished smartly after collecting a rebound.
And Coventry eventually took the lead early in the third period at 43.31 as Boysen finished off a two-on-one break with a clinical strike.
Barriga scored his second of the game at 47.30 from Matthew Gleason’s feed to put Blaze in command.
And Blaze completed the scoring at 53.31 as Saucerman fired into an empty net from inside his own zone after Tilburg pulled their keeper for an extra skater.
Coventry are next in action against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, September 6 with the face-off at 7pm at Motorpoint Arena.
