JD Dudek scored a hat-trick as Coventry Blaze secured their 12th overtime win of the season with a 4-3 victory against Glasgow Clan.
Dudek won the game for Blaze at 2.45 in the extra period having scored twice in regulation time after Alexander Kuqali found the net in the first period at the Skydome Arena.
The result means Coventry sit fifth in the Elite League table.
Glasgow took the lead at 15.48 when Luke Lynch’s effort took a huge deflection off a Blaze skate and found the back of the net.
However, Coventry drew level at 19.05 with Kuqali the beneficiary of a scrambled play after sustained pressure on the Clan goal.
The visitors regained the lead at 21.33 when Clan top scorer Gary Haden scored with a backhand in-close at the start of the second period.
Blaze equalised for a second time at 30.14 as Dudek controlled a bouncing puck, deked his defenceman, and then undressed the Clan goalie in tight.
And after hitting the post twice on the powerplay, the home side completed the turnaround at 45.28 when Mitch Cook’s shot hit Dudek and beat Kevin Lindskoug in the Clan net.
With 46 seconds left to play, Glasgow pulled netminder Lindskoug for the extra skater and Stephen Desrocher took the game to overtime with a dramatic goal at 59.14.
However, Blaze won the game in the extra period when Dudek completed his hat-trick on the powerplay at 62.45 as Blaze snapped their three-game losing streak.
Coventry are next in action away at Glasgow Clan on Friday, February 16 with the face-off at 7.30pm at Braehead Arena.
Blaze then host Guildford Flames on Saturday, February 17 with the face-off at 7pm at the Skydome.
