KIM Tallberg scored twice as Coventry Blaze snapped their five-game losing streak with a much-needed 4-2 home victory against Dundee Stars.

Tallberg turned the game in Blaze’s favour with two goals in the second period before Alessio Luciani and Kobe Roth both struck at the Skydome Arena.

However, despite picking up their first home win in the Elite League this season, Coventry remain bottom of the standings.

In contrast to Blaze, Stars came into the fixture off the back of five straight wins and took an early lead when Carter Johnson found the net at 8.23 from a three-on-two attack to open the scoring.

Blaze deservedly drew level on the powerplay at 26.18 before completing the turnaround at 34.36 as Tallberg struck twice for the home side.

And Blaze all but sealed the points at 53.52 as in-form Canadian forward Luciani scored Blaze’s third goal of the night.

Dundee kept themselves in the contest as Jake Elmer responded with a goal at 54.47 only for Roth to complete the scoring at 59.35 after finishing into an empty net.

Blaze assistant coach Dayle Keen said: “It was a huge win for the boys and a well-deserved win. I loved the reaction and desire that we had to get those two points for ourselves and our crowd.

“We can take a lot of positives from the way we closed the game out. It was a great performance and nice to see the guys bounce back and get a win.”

Blaze are next in action away at Fife Flyers on Saturday, December 2 with the face-off at 7.15pm at Fife Ice Arena.

And Blaze then host Cardiff Devils on Sunday, December 3 with the face-off at 5.30pm at the Skydome.
