COVENTRY Blaze have announced the re-signing of Canadian forward Mitch Cook for the 2023/24 Elite League season.
The 27-year-old found the net 23 times and laid on 17 assists for a total of 40 points in 66 Elite League competition games last season.
However, Canadian forward pair Johnny Curran and Marly Quince will not return to Blaze next season after both players agreed deals with the same club who play outside of the United Kingdom.
Blaze head coach, Danny Stewart, said: “Cooky had a great year last year. He’s a guy that plays in all situations, up and down the line-up, and plays the right way on both sides of the puck.
“He had seven powerplay goals last year and played an important part in our success there.
“He battles and competes night in and night out. His consistency from game to game allows us to depend on him weekly and was a big reason he scored 23 goals in all competitions.”
Cook joined Blaze midway through the 2021/22 season and has since scored 28 goals and 26 assists for 54 points in 99 Elite League competition appearances.
Before moving to Coventry, Cook notched 21 goals and 21 assists in 19 games with Liege Bulldogs of the BeNeLiga in Belgium what was his first professional season.
