BRADY Norrish scored a second overtime winner in as many matches as Coventry Blaze secured an impressive 3-2 victory away at Guildford Flames.

Norrish once again proved the hero for Blaze after James Shearer opened the scoring before Mitch Cook levelled in the third period at Guildford Spectrum.

And the result means Blaze sit fifth in the Elite League standings.

Coventry took the lead through defenceman Shearer’s goal at 10.18 after he had space and time to pick his spot through a crowd of bodies.

However, Flames levelled at 13.08 when American Matt Tugnutt grabbed his third goal in seven matches since joining the club from the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays.

And Guildford completed the turnaround at 14.28 as creative forward Matt Alvaro tipped Kyle Locke’s initial shot past Blaze netminder Taran Kozun.

Blaze then missed a chance to draw level on the powerplay before Guildford spurned two powerplay chances of their own.

However, the visitors levelled the game at 51.02 when Cook scored his second goal in as many games after Blaze failed to score on their fourth powerplay of the night.

Guildford conceded two more penalties late on, with Bradley Lalonde and Steven McParland called for tripping and boarding respectively.

And Blaze finally made the most of the man advantage to win the game at 61.24 through Norrish with both McParland and Alvaro given game misconduct penalties for abuse of officials.

Coventry are next in action away at Manchester Storm on Saturday, January 20 with the face-off at 7pm at Planet Ice Altrincham before Blaze host Belfast Giants on Sunday, January 21 with the face-off at 5.30pm at the Skydome Arena.
