COVENTRY Blaze continued their red-hot form with an overtime win against Cardiff Devils before they thrashed Fife Flyers on retro night to secure a fourth successive Elite League victory.
Blaze eased to a 5-0 win at the Skydome Arena against Fife as Nate Halbert scored twice with further goals from Brady Norrish, Marly Quince and Johnny Curran.
And that came after Norrish scored an overtime winner to beat Cardiff 4-3 at Ice Arena Wales after Tyler Kirkup, Jack Billings and Mitch Cook were all on target.
The results mean Blaze remain fifth in the Elite League standings.
Blaze took to the ice wearing Reverse Retro jerseys in their win against Fife in homage to the club’s early days in the British National League.
And after a goalless first period, Norrish opened the scoring at 31.56 with a goal on the powerplay before Quince doubled the home side’s lead at 33.32.
Captain Halbert sealed the win just 22 second into the final period before Curran struck at 49.32 and the former scored his second of the game at 56.36 to complete the scoring.
The victory was Blaze’s fourth in a row after Coventry came from behind on three separate occasions to beat Cardiff the previous night.
Devils took the lead through Justin Crandall at 10.42 only for Kirkup to level at 14.39 with his third goal in as many games.
Cardiff struck on the powerplay courtesy of Josh Waller at 22.57 as Blaze equalised for a second time when Bllings found the net at 31.05.
And the home side restored their lead through Trevor Cox at 43.02 as Coventry showed great spirit to draw level for a third time when Cook netted his 17th goal of the season at 46.08.
That took to the game to overtime as Norrish scored the match-winning goal at 63.43 from Curran’s pass.
Blaze are next in action away at Nottingham Panthers TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 14) with the face-off at 7.30pm at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.
