ICE HOCKEY: FREE scoring Marco Vallerand admitted he’s ‘sick of losing’ after Blaze crashed to a seventh successive Elite League loss against Manchester on Sunday.
Short benched, Blaze lost 4-2 to their Patton Conference rivals – a result which meant Blaze remain tenth in the EIHL table, two points short of eighth placed Braehead.
But Vallerand – who was voted Blaze’s Player of the Month for November – revealed after Sunday night’s loss that there’s no consolation in being the leading forward in the league given the form of his side.
He said: “I’m more annoyed than anything else.
“I’d rather win and not score, it’s cheesy but true. I’m sick of losing.”
Blaze’s desperate streak stretches back to the end of October. Since then, Danny Stewart’s men have won just two games – one EIHL and one Challenge Cup game – while losing a further ten.
And the No.88 admitted things are starting to get tough.
“It’s been two tough weekends in a row now,” he said.
“We’ve got to find a way of getting through games. There’s no excuse now. We need to be better.
“The powerplay wasn’t working.
“We’re short on bodies. My unit was doing great but then we lost two men on that and had to switch things around.
“Things are different in games compared to practise.”
