COVENTRY City will not be recruiting the services of experienced Ipswich Town midfielder Jonathan Douglas, despite media speculation.
Sky Blues sources have confirmed with the Observer he is not among targets ahead of tomorrow night’s transfer window closure.
It is understood boss Russell Slade did have a look at the 35-year-old former Republic of Ireland and Leeds star.
Slade told the Coventry Observer last week he was targeting attacking players as a priority including potentially two attacking midfielders and one or two strikers, with goals in short supply and the Sky Blues languishing at the foot of League One.
Douglas has also played for Swindon and Brentford.
It has been reported Brentford are set to make a third offer for academy-produced talented young midfielder Ben Stevenson, and there is renewed speculation of potential late interest in defender Jordan Willis.
