COVENTRY City Ladies bounced back from an opening day defeat at Sheffield LFC by hammering Liverpool Marshall Feds 7-1 in the preliminary round of the League Cup.
Craig Nicholls’ side found themselves on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss away at Sheffield LFC on the opening day of the 2014/15 campaign.
But on Sunday afternoon in Liverpool the Sky Blues recorded their first win of the season thanks to four goals from Katie Lowder and further strikes by Karen Clough, Helen Dermody and Maz Gauntlett.
“We were much better than last week,” said player of the match Lowder. “Our movement was first class.
“We created a lot of chances, and obviously I am happy to have put four of them away, but it’s credit to the girls really and how we played.”
Manager Nicholls was also delighted to have secured the club’s first win of the season.
He added: “That was a brilliant performance and we were back to how we usually play, with high tempo and desire.
“We enjoyed a lot of possession and used quick, sharp interchanges to create numerous chances.”
