Welcome to our live blog from the press box at the Ricoh Arena as the Sky Blues take on promotion chasing Bradford City.

The Sky Blues will be looking to make it a winning start under new manager Mark Robins who takes charge of his first match since re-joining the club earlier this week.

Two goals in the space of three minutes won it for Bradford City. Report and reaction to follow…




Full-time – The referee blows the final whistle and it’s another defeat for the Sky Blues as they lose 2-0 at home to Bradford City

Three minutes of added on time is signalled by the fourth official and that’s time for some Sky Blues fans to head towards the exit.


The Bradford fans are in full voice away to my right. It looks as though they are going to claim all three points today. Three minutes to go plus stoppage time

85 – Billy Clarke hits a dangerous free kick from the right into the box which is tipped over the bar by Burge. 0-2

81 – The Sky Blues are struggling to break down Bradford. They’ve not tested Doyle since Clarke’s header at the start of the second half. 0-2

Just under 15 minutes to go for the Sky Blues to find a way back into this match

Today’s attendance has been confirmed as 9,150

66 – Substitute – Final change for the Sky Blues sees the injured Stokes come off in place of Rawson. Stokes gets a generous applause off the home support on his return to action. It’s good to see him back!

63 – Substitute – Alex Jones comes off and Billy Clarke comes on for the visitors

60 – Decent response by the Sky Blues. G.Thomas finds himself with a chance to volley right in front of goal but he blazes his effort high over the bar. 0-2

58 – Substitute – Jodi Jones comes on for Charles Vernam

56 – GOAL FOR BRADFORD! The Sky Blues are falling apart here. Jordy Hiwula beats Burge with a low finish from the edge of the area. Two goals in the space of three minutes for the visitors! 0-2

53 – Jones comes close again with a powerful shot from the edge of the area but Burge does superbly well to tip his effort over the bar. From the resulting corner Vincelot almost score on his Ricoh return but his header comes back off the bar. 0-1

51 – GOAL FOR BRADFORD! McMahon’s in-swinging corner is poked home by Alex Jones by the penalty spot. 0-1

46 – Half a chance at the start of the second half sees Clarke head towards the back post and his header is eventually gathered by Doyle.

We’re back underway for the second period. No changes for either side at half-time.

The Sky Blues players are back out for the second half. We’ll be kicking off the second half shortly…

It remains goalless at the break. Beavon has had Coventry’s best chance of the match with an acrobatic volley which drop narrowly wide of goal while at the other end Charlie Wyke saw his header come back off the post before being cleared off the line.

45+2 – Vincelot hits a first time shot well wide of the target. 0-0

Two minutes of added on time…

42 – A crunching tackle by Turnbull wins back possession for the Sky Blues. G.Thomas runs with the ball to the edge of the area before unleashing a low drive at goal which Doyle gets down well to gather. 0-0

Five minutes to go until half-time. It’s still 0-0 here at the Ricoh Arena

35 – Stokes gets a ticking off by the referee for committing another foul. He might well be on his last warning!

34 – Substitute for Bradford. Alex Jones come on in place of Alex Gilliead. It looks as though Gilliead might be carrying a knock but he takes his seat on the bench. 0-0

Mark Robins has been very vocal on the touchline so far. Constantly dishing out instructions to his side.

30 – The Sky Blues make their first change of the match. Kelly-Evans come on in place of the injured Foley. 0-0

28 – There is a break in play here as Foley receives treatment

26 – A quick breakaway by the Sky Blues sees G.Thomas break down the left but Vernam cannot control Thomas’ pass. 0-0

18 – BIG CHANCE! Bradford come ever so close to taking the lead. A deep cross to the far post by Marshall is headed towards goal by Wyke but his goal-bound effort is cleared off the line. It looked as though the ball hit the post before being cleared by Turnbull. 0-0

15 – BIG CHANCE! Beavon comes inches away from scoring a beauty! A high ball into the box was flicked on by K.Thomas and Beavon sent an acrobatic volley just wide. 0-0

11 – Josh Cullen cuts in from the left and plays a dangerous low ball into the box which is well dealt with by Burge. 0-0

10- A decent chance for the Sky Blues. A corner is only partially cleared and Stevenson sends a right-footed shot narrowly wide of the target. 0-0

8 – A dangerous corner by Vernam is eventually cleared by the Bradford defence

4 – An early shot on goal by Beavon. He cuts in on the left-hand side of the penalty area but his effort his comfortable for Doyle in the Bradford goal. 0-0

We’re underway!

The players out on the pitch here at the Ricoh Arena. Mark Robins is standing in the dugout getting lots of snapped by a group of photographers. He gets a generous applause as he’s welcomed back by the announcer JD.

Just minutes away from kick off. Bradford look to have brought a fair few fans down with them and they’re making plenty of noise away to my right!

So four changes for the Sky Blues with Chris Stokes returning to the side to make his first league start of the season, Ben Stevenson starts in midfield, while Kevin Foley comes in at full-back and Charles Vernam is also back in the side.

There are also three former Sky Blues players in the Bradford team in the shape of Doyle, Vincelot and Marshall.
