COVENTRY City have rejected a third offer for captain Jordan Willis from Rotherham United this afternoon, club sources have told the Observer.
Our Sky Blues sources say speculation elsewhere is ‘totally false’ that they had accepted a third offer from theChampionship Yorkshire club yesterday.
They say reports are also totally false that the stumbling block had been the player had failed to agree personal terms with Rotherham, including on wages.
It is not clear whether Rotherham will continue to pursue the 22-year-old-defender today, with the transfer deadline looming tonight.
Club sources tell us Rotherham have not met the Sky Blues’ valuation for the player, hence the third bid was rejected.
The club has also this afternoon dismissed speculation as ‘completely false’ that they had received an offer for Ruben Lameiras.
As we reported earlier, Willis was in training this morning, when Sky Blues boss Russell Slade was working on securing deals for a midfielder and an attacker.
Our sources say Coventry City have still not received any fresh approaches for either of their young stars Ben Stevenson, for which Brentford had two offers rejected earlier this month, and Ryan Haynes, who as we revealed yesterday was the subject of a rejected bid from Wolves.
