THE CITY of Coventry Swimming Club won 40 gold, 32 silver and 41 bronze medals when it hosted the Level Three January Open meet earlier this month.
A total of 188 boys and 236 girls attended the event, which was hosted at Coventry’s 50-metre Olympic Pool.
The Coventry girls dominated the 15-year age group with Lily Smith shining in particular after winnng gold in the 200m breaststroke, silver in the 50m breaststroke and she also came third in the 100m breaststroke.
Lucy Glover came second in the same age group while Lauren Baraclough and Jade Picket came third and fourth.
Charlotte Anderson also had a successful weekend in the girls 14-year age group. Anderson won gold in the 50m fly and 50m freestyle which earned her a Midland qualifying time as well as winning a silver and two bronze medals.
Nine-year-old Darcey Moriarty swam an excellent race in the 200 individual medley and Beth Turrall also had several excellent swims in the ten-year age group, which included gold in her first ever 400m freestyle.
For the boys. Josh Goldsby-Taylor (11 years ) and Ryan Griffiths (12 years) also had a successful weekend for Coventry with both finishing second in the Top Boy award for their age groups.
Coach Paul Wilson said: “The whole team put in an excellent performance.
“Some of them swam several events each session, and a special mention needs to go to Niall Connell who achieved a Midland qualifying time in every race he swam.”
