YOUNGSTERS in and around Coventry are being offered free trial mixed martial arts classes this summer with the launch of a new kids academy.
Led by UFC Bantamweight MMA fighter and IBJJF Jiu Jitsu World Champion, Melissa Mullins, the classes will provide a unique opportunity for children to engage in all disciplines which make up mixed martial arts (MMA) – namely Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), K1 kickboxing and wrestling.
Provided by Levels MMA, based near Coventry airport, the academy aims to foster physical fitness, discipline and confidence among its young team members.
Leves MMA is offering free sessions in August, allowing children to try the classes before the academy opens officially in September.
Classes are available five days a week with a ladies only K1 kickboxing class open to young women aged 13 and above.
The academy offers a comprehensive curriculum tailored specifically to children aged 7 to 14, providing a safe and supportive environment for children to learn, develop and have fun.
Owner and head coach Mullins said: “I am really excited to open Levels Mixed Martial Arts in Coventry.
“Martial Arts is not entirely about physical development, it’s about instilling confidence, teaching respect, and promoting resilience. Through our classes, we aim to empower children with valuable life skills that extend far beyond the mats.”
The academy’s curriculum caters for children of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced. Through a combination of drills, games, and live sparring, students will experience the various elements of MMA.
In addition to physical training, the academy places a strong emphasis on character development, through structured lessons and positive reinforcement, children will learn the importance of respect, perseverance, and teamwork.
