BREA Angliss fought her way to a best finish of 15th during a challenging second weekend of the 2023 Ginetta Junior Championship season at Silverstone.
The grand prix circuit at Silverstone is the longest track on the calendar and Angliss acquainted herself with the 3.6 mile layout for the first time during pre-event testing.
And Angliss experienced full wet weather conditions for the first time behind the wheel of her Ginetta G40 during qualifying.
However, she was unable to showcase her improved pace in race one after she lost visibility due to a steamed-up windscreen which forced her to pit at the end of the opening lap.
And the race was red flagged soon after as standing water developed on the track to leave her with a 15th place finish.
The Coventry-based racer avoided multiple incidents at the start of the second race before a mechanical issue saw her car come to a halt as she headed down Hamilton Straight.
However, Angliss did at least finish the weekend with a 17th place finish in race three.
Angliss said: “It’s been a challenging weekend for a number of reasons, but it’s also been a big opportunity to gain a lot of experience across different weather conditions and I’m proud of the progress I made in both the wet and the dry.
“After the early red flag in race one and the mechanical issue in race two, I was pleased to finally get the chance to complete a full race distance in the last one.
“My pace was improving each lap and that’s a really positive sign for me heading into the next rounds.”
The season continues at the end of the month with a trip to Donington Park on May 27 and 28 before a return to Silverstone from June 2 to 4.
