BLAKE Angliss will take an exciting next step in his motorsport career as he steps up to the British GT Championship this season.

The Coventry driver will be behind the wheel of a McLaren Artura GT4 with leading team Paddock Motorsport.

After spending four years making a name for himself in one-make Ginetta competition, Angliss has recorded 12 class wins and 28 podium finishes in the last 32 races he has contested.

And he is now graduating to top-level endurance racing for the first time in one of the world’s leading domestic GT championships.

Angliss said: “I’m massively excited to be joining both the British GT Championship and Paddock Motorsport this year.

“Everything over the last 12 months has been building toward a move into British GT; it’s the first proper step toward top-level sports car racing, and I think with Paddock I’ll be in a great environment to develop as a driver.

“I learned so much about GT racing from my time with Ginetta and, while I haven’t had the chance to test the McLaren Artura GT4 yet, I’m really confident that I’ll get to grips with it quickly.

“It’s mid-engined, so will require a different driving style to what I’m used to, but I’ll have experienced people all around me at Paddock to help me learn quickly.

“Pairing with Alex should be great, and I can’t wait to get going.

“I’m eager to learn as much as I can this season, work with the team to make sure we get the most from every session we do, and push for those big points scores right from the start.”

Paddock Motorsport founder, Martin Plowman, added: “It’s fantastic to have our British GT plans confirmed, and a huge amount of work has gone in over the winter to ensure we start the season in a strong position.

“In Alex and Blake we have two really impressive young drivers who will raise some eyebrows this year.

“They’ve both been race winners in other championships, and their driving styles should complement each other when sharing the Artura GT4.

“They’re hungry for success and eager to learn, so I have no doubt they can achieve some great results.”

The British GT Championship is enjoying a golden era at the moment, with capacity grids filled with some of the most talented GT teams and drivers in the world ensuring it serves as a perfect proving ground for aspiring professional GT racing drivers.

Angliss is looking forward to the challenge ahead as he goes up against a hugely-competitive GT4 entry.

The Coventry-based racer will benefit from the skills and expertise of the Paddock Motorsport squad, who have established themselves as one of the leading GT teams in the UK in recent years.

The 20-year-old talent will be sharing their McLaren Artura GT4, a model which took four British GT wins last season, with Alex Walker, a former single-seater race-winner who has enjoyed a successful transition to GT racing.

Classified as a Silver-Silver line-up, they will be targeting overall GT4 championship glory this year.

Contested across seven events, the 2024 championship comprises nine races ranging from one to three hours in length.

All of the leading circuits in the UK are featured on the calendar, alongside a traditional overseas event at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Angliss has some great commercial opportunities available for prospective partners to join him on this next step in his motorsport journey in the British GT Championship. Interested parties can get in touch with him via email at: [email protected]
