COVENTRY-based M.I.Racing won their 11th National Cycling Championshipof the season thanks to an excellent ride by veteran Barrie Mitchell.
Marton-based Mitchell took first place in the 65+ category at the National Closed Circuit Championships which took place on a very wet and windy Truxton Motor Race circuit in Hampshire.
Mitchell’s time of 29 minutes and one second was enough to win the 12-mile event which was his third 65+ victory in the past four years and his 24th British Championship career win.
Team mates Russell Green (28.40) and Mark Wise (27.58) also took part in the race but M.I.Racing boss was a none starters.
The team’s cyclo cross riders were also in action over the weekend with Kirby Hinckley finishing runner-up in the 50+ race at Bingham, while team mate Peter Busby finished fourth after recovering from mechanical problems.
Finn Mansfield and his sister Lotta, who are both members of the M.I.Racing Youth Academy, won their races at the same meeting.
On Sunday morning, Peter Busby finished second in the Veteran 50+ race at Grantham.
