New Blaze signing impressed after weekend debut

NEW SIGNING Justin DaCosta was impressed with how Blaze performed against Nottingham Panthers and Belfast Giants at the weekend.

The former Fife Flyers defenceman marked his debut at the National Ice Centre on Saturday with a fight as Blaze went down 3-1.

But Marc LeFebvre’s side bounced back with a fantastic 5-1 victory over defending Elite League champions Belfast Giants at the Skydome the following night with DaCosta picking up two assists.

“It was good,” said DaCosta. “This was obviously my first weekend with the team but I thought we played well.

“In Nottingham the guys worked hard and we generated some good chances but couldn’t capitalise. Sunday was another great team effort.

“Guys were flying and fortunately we managed to capitalise on some of the chances we generated. It was a great win for the team.

“Any time you lose you want your next game to go your way. Fortunately we were able to have a good team performance in front of our home crowd.”
