New Warwick Racecourse General Manager all set for Christmas Raceday

Coventry Editorial 27th Nov, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

WARWICK Racecourse’s new General Manager is looking forward to taking the reins at his first raceday at his new home when Christmas comes early next month.

The Christmas Raceday will be Andre Klein’s first meet in full control at Warwick since being appointed by Jockey Club Racecourses.

The seven-race fixture on December 10 features the Warwick Racecourse Handicap Steeple Chase along with the Racinguk Anywhere Handicap Hurdle Race.

Klein, who was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, has returned to Warwickshire after 16 years working in the racing industry in New Zealand and Australia and replaces Huw Williams at Warwick, who has moved to sister Jockey Club course, Wincanton.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know my new team over the last few weeks and I’m really looking forward to our Christmas Raceday,” said Klein.

“I was only a couple of days into my new job when we held our last meet, so you could say it was a bit like a new manager watching his team from the stands before taking charge!

“I’ve been hugely passionate about racing, particularly jump racing, my whole life and I’m excited to be playing a major part in continuing to build Warwick’s profile.

“Building strong links with the local community is also one of my main priorities and I’m looking forward to introducing myself to some new faces at our Christmas Raceday.”

A Christmas Pavilion Package, which includes a Winter Pimms reception, a set two-course meal followed by coffee, private bar facility, tote betting and personal waitress service, is available for just £75.

Tickets are also available in advance from £13.50, with special ticket prices for groups of more than 10 people. Gates open at 10.30am, with the first race at 12.30pm and the last race at 3.30pm.
