THE SEARCH is underway to recognise sporting excellence across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.

The Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards are designed to celebrate those who have made a tremendous contribution to sport in professional and amateur fields.

This year’s ceremony will be the 11th staging of the annual event and will take place at the Ricoh Arena on November 12.

A total of 16 award titles will be handed out on the night to recognise the achievements of teams and individuals as well as volunteers and upcoming stars of the future.

Titles up for grabs include Newcomer of the Year, PE Teacher of the Year, Young Sports Volunteer of the Year, Junior Team of the Year, Unsung Hero Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The event is organised by Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sport (CSW Sport) with support from BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, Coventry City Council, Coventry University, Wasps, the Ricoh Arena, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, the University of Warwick and EnV.

Emma Sadula, of CSW Sport, said: “The CSW Sports Awards ceremony is one of the most exciting occasions in the local sporting calendar.

“It is the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate sporting accomplishments and the rising stars of the future as well as recognising the successes of volunteers and unsung heroes who make a sizable contribution to sport.

“We have already crowned countless worthy winners over the last 11 years including our unsung hero of 2013 Sandra Price who was recently awarded an MBE for her services to netball in Coventry.

“We are now eager to reward the next wave of sporting prowess and would like to encourage members of the public to nominate teams and individuals they think would be worthy winners.”
