OCTAVIAN Droobers Orienteering Club’s juniors are through to the National finals which take place in Northamptonshire this summer.
Competing in the Yvette Baker tournament eight Droobers scored a total of 796 points: Luke Cherry 100, Max Straube-Roth 100, Ruben Jeffries 100, Richie Mack 100, Jess Gilder 100, Adam Landels 99, Ching Chiu Tang 99 and Rupert Powell 98 on their respective courses.
And with qualification secured, the juniors are now looking forward to competing in the final at Irchester Country Park, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, July 3.
Droobers were also in West Midlands regional league action at Hartshill Hayes Country Park, near Nuneaton organised by Bob Brandon and assisted by many club members.
Over 200 competitors from around the Midlands enjoyed the fine weather and the variety of courses through the woods planned by David Lawson.
Top runners on their respective courses were: Alistair Landels M50 1st on the Brown course, Kirsten Strain W35 1st on the Blue course in 53.24mins, Luke Cherry M18 winning the Green course in 41.09mins and new club member Richie Mack M14 1st on the Yellow course in 18.07mins.

With some great runs by many club members Octavian Droobers now lead the West Midlands league with 4025 points after three events.
Five members have been awarded the maximum 300 points: Philip Ainsley M21, Tom Jeffries M50, Liz Phillips W55, Peter Carey W75 and Sheila Carey W75.
