RYAN Palmer netted twice to help guide Coventry Alvis to victory over Christ the King in the Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup.
After a slow start, Alvis grew into the game and eventually made the most of their superior possession when Alan Bourn fired home on the goal line in the 22nd minute.
Alvis had to wait until the opening minute of the second half to add to the score, when Palmer caught out a lackadaisical defence with his bursting run through on goal before supplying the finish to match.
He doubled his tally for the afternoon seven minutes later with another burst of pace to fire the ball home and effectively seal Alvis’ progression in the next round.
The game was wrapped up with ten minutes to go when Tyrike Richards made it four, with CTK’s goalkeeper worthy of praise for his efforts in keeping the scoreline down.
Coventry Alvis host Coton Green in the Les James Challenge Cup on Saturday (3pm).
