LEGENDARY Coventry Blaze skater Russ Cowley says Team GB are looking forward to renewing their rivalry with Poland this weekend.
Team GB and Poland meet at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham tonight (7.30pm) and at the Skydome Arena on Saturday (1pm).
The two games are part of both sides’ preparations for their respective World Championship, with GB hosting their first men’s tournament for 25 years in Belfast later this month.
Cowley said: “Great Britain-Poland games are always very special and the rivalry is fantastic.
“We have a lot of respect for each other but the games are so intense. I am sure this year will be no different.
“It is great preparation for a World Championship tournament.”
Cowley will retire from hockey at the end of his season and he is hoping that will be in Belfast, if he is picked as part of coach Pete Russell’s final 23-man squad.
He said: “This year’s tournament will be very special in Belfast and I hope to be involved.
“It would be great if as many fans as possible can come roar us on this weekend and get across to Belfast for the World Championship.”
