NETBALL: TAMSIN Greenway believes it is crucial her Wasps Netball team continue to build momentum in what is a ‘must-win’ game for their opponents on Monday night.
Wasps Netball take on Team Bath for the first time this season in the Vitality Netball Superleague on Monday (May 8) – starting at 7.45pm, with the match being shown live on Sky Sports.
Team Bath lead the chasing pack for the top four after beating Surrey Storm in their last game, leaving them just three points behind Storm in fourth.
Tamsin Greenway, who was part of the Team Bath side that won five league titles, believes this is a must-win fixture for her former team as they look to keep pressure on the top-four.
Greenway said: “It will be a huge challenge for us.
“For them every game now is a must-win. I expect they will be throwing everything at us on the night, especially as it’s a home game for them as well.
“Rach Dunn and I started our careers at Bath, we were there for eight years, we were the team that won everything and had some fantastic times there.
“I had Bath as one of the favourites for the title this season. They will be disappointed at the position they are in right now but it’s definitely not over for them, the last few games will have given them confidence and I’m expecting big things from the Monday.
“They have international players all over the court, player-for-player they are probably the strongest team out there.”
Team Bath and Wasps Netball are yet to play each other but will meet twice in quick succession, with the reverse fixture at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday (June 3).
Wasps Netball are currently on a seven match winning run and sit second in the Superleague, three points behind league-leaders Loughborough Lightning.
Greenway knows it is important her side keep up their good form ahead of the Final Four weekend.
She added: “It would be nice to finish top of the league, but I’ve finished top plenty of times and not gone on to win in the finals, for us it is all about keeping this winning run going.”
