RUGBY LEAGUE: ON the back of their League One win against Hemel, Coventry Bears travel to Merthyr Tydfil this weekend to face South Wales Ironmen hoping to make it two wins on the spin.
Having travelled across to Canada two weeks ago, Bears are in a confident mood after the club’s profile hit a high point following a credible performance the other side of the Atlantic.
Sunday’s opponents are expected to provide another tough test, despite rumours circulating around suggesting of another name and location change for next season – leaving a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the Welsh outfit.
South Wales are currently second from bottom in the league with a distinct lack of wins this season.
Adversity brings put the best in many teams and their loyal fans are desperate for something to feel good about.
They will certainly have identified their home game against the Bears – who are still only one place above them – as one they would want to win.
Elsewhere Bears are looking for their first away win of the season and a chance to put some distance between themselves and teams lower in the league.
Sunday’s game kicks off at 3pm. Bears are next in action at home on Sunday, June 25, when they host Workington.
