RUGBY LEAGUE: FRESH from their trip to Toronto last weekend, Coventry Bears are back in action at the Butts Park Arena on Sunday afternoon as they face bottom club Hemel Stags.
The Bears jetted off to North America last weekend to tackle table topping Toronto Wolfpack, a game which Bears lost but put on a good display in the process.
Tom Tsang’s men now face a crucial game against the Stags in a fixture where both teams enter looking to reverse the fortunes of their season so far.
Bears have shown signs of great promise this season, but their performances on pitch have not translated into wins – with only one victory in the league so far.
However they have used the trip to Canada to build and develop as a team – and are now full of confidence.
Sunday’s game cannot be taken lightly though as although Hemel have failed to win a league fixture this season, they did defeat Bears in a pre-season friendly.
Making use of attacking options will be crucial if Tom Tsang’s men are to win, with Hemel conceding an average of 40 points each game.
Tsang said: “The whole Toronto experience has really brought the team together and everyone is now very positive for the rest of the season.
“We now face Hemel followed by South Wales who are both below us in the league.
“Hemel beat us in pre-season and the match will be even tougher given the amount of travelling this week.
“But it’s essential we use this trip as a spring board to getting some wins on the board and it’s vital we are beating those teams around us on the league table.
“Now is the time to build some momentum as we approach the mid-season split in the competition.”
