Purdy swaps Coventry for Bristol

DIRECTOR of rugby Rowland Winter admits winger Henry Purdy will be a big miss for Coventry Rugby after his transfer to Bristol Bears.

The 25-year-old joins the Premiership side after two months at Butts Park Arena, impressing during his short spell at Coventry in which he made five appearances and scored three tries.

Winter says he can understand why Bristol have made the move for one of Coventry’s star talents, and said: “Henry has played well since he joined us. I believe that it was only a matter of time before I would get a call from a Premiership club about him.

“Henry has not just played well in matches, he has also been a really good person to have around the club with his positive attitude towards his training and our work in general.

“We’re going to miss him, but it is also another good reflection of what we’re trying to achieve. We were not going to stop him playing back in the Premiership.”
