Ricoh return would be a dream come true

SKY Blues boss Steven Pressley believes that in order for the club to achieve its dream of progressing back up the Football League pyramid they must return to Coventry.

As things stand the Sky Blues will kick off the 2014/15 season at Sixfields Stadium in Northampton for a second year running despite large-scale protests from thousands of angry supporters.

The the club and the council have both stated they are happy to talk again about the prospect of an interim deal at the Ricoh Arena.

But it seems the club’s unwillingness to drop legal action after losing the judicial review hearing is proving to be a pivotal stumbling block.

And Pressley knows how much of an impact it would have on everyone involved with the club if the Sky Blues returned home in time for the new season.

He told the Observer: “Last year was a testing year for everyone at the club. From the players and staff to very much the supporters and it’s been a difficult, difficult period.

“For all that we’ve gone through it would give this place and the city a huge lift if we were to return to the Ricoh for the start of the season.

“My hope is that we do. I think everybody connected with the club hopes it happens and fingers crossed there can be a solution to that.

“I think that the great thing just now is that there’s noises that seem to be positive noises in the respect of us returning to the Ricoh.

“There’s been many good things going on at the club but for us to truly realise our dreams here we’ll never do that I don’t believe until we return to the city.”
