COVENTRY RFC returned to league action with a comfortable 31-13 bonus point win against London Scottish to extend their unbeaten run to six matches.
An early try from Josh Bainbridge set Coventry on their way as Will Chudley, Adam Peters, Suva Ma’asi and Louis James all crossed at Butts Park Arena.
The result means Coventry sit third in the RFU Championship table, 15 points behind leaders Ealing Trailfinders with a game in hand.
Alex Rae’s side made a blistering start as Bainbridge scored underneath the posts after just two minutes and Evan Mitchell added the extras.
The visitors responded with their only points of the half when Nathan Chamberlain kicked a penalty.
However, Coventry scored their second try minutes later as the ball was worked out wide to Chudley who touched down in the corner after Mitchell kicked an initial penalty deep into London territory.
Coventry struck again on 35 minutes when Peters received Will Rigg’s pass and galloped over the line before Mitchell kicked the conversion.
And the home side scored their bonus point try four minutes later as Ma’asi finished at the back of a powerful rolling maul and Mitchell kicked the extras.
The visitors scored their first try on 46 minutes when Jo Rees crashed over from a driving maul after Chamberlain’s penalty provided London with good field position.
And the Exiles scored their second try in almost identical circumstances on 63 minutes as Viliami Taulani dived over following a series of close range carries.
However, Coventry crossed for the game’s final score when James ran in unopposed in the corner from James Martin’s pass after another good kick from Mitchell.
Coventry are next in action away at Cornish Pirates on Saturday, March 11 with kick-off at 1.30pm at The Mennaye.
