COVENTRY Rugby claimed a 41-26 bonus point win against Cornish Pirates as Alex Rae’s side secured a fifth successive victory.
A couple of tries from Allan Ferrie and further scores from Peter Sullivan, Aristot Benz-Salomon, Senitiki Nayalo and Ewan Baker sealed a six-try success at Butts Park Arena.
The result means Coventry sit fourth in the Champ Rugby table, five points behind Bedford Blues in second.
Coventry made the perfect start as Ferrie dotted down after just two minutes after running onto Jordon Poole’s pass and sprinting to the line.
And the home side extended their lead to 10 points when Josh Thomas kicked a penalty after the referee penalised the Pirates for offside.
Rae’s side crossed for their second try on 13 minutes as Sullivan found a gap to dot down his 14th try of the season.
Cornish responded three minutes later when Daniel Hiscocks touched down following some quick hands after the hosts knocked on.
And the Pirates further reduced the deficit on 20 minutes as Josh King forced his way over from close range following a 50/22 kick.
However, Coventry crossed for their third try on 32 minutes when Benz-Salomon crashed over from the back of a ruck after the Pirates lost Rory Sutor to the sin-bin for a high tackle.
And the home side scored their bonus point try on the stroke of half time as Nayalo barged his way over the line from a tap-and-go penalty.
The visitors responded after the break on 51 minutes when Matty Ward intercepted a pass and burst down the left wing to score.
Ferrie notched his second try of the game six minutes later with a score under the posts after bursting through a gap in the Cornish defence.
However, the visitors kept themselves in the contest on 65 minutes when Buster Rice powered over from close range.
The home side completed the scoring in the final minute when Api Bavadra picked up a loose ball and broke 50-metres before the ball made its way to Baker who ran in unopposed.
