ALEX Rae is under no illusions as to the task at hand as his Coventry Rugby side prepare to travel to second-placed Doncaster Knights this weekend.
Cov returned to winning ways with a come-from-behind 34-6 bonus point victory against Ampthill last time out and sit one place behind the Knights in the Championship table.
Coventry thrashed Doncaster 51-7 in arguably their best performance of the campaign earlier this season although Rae insists the Yorkshire club will have a point to prove on home soil.
Rae said: “Doncaster will represent a really good challenge for the group and one we’re all looking forward to.
“They’ll have a point to prove after the last game we had against them and we’re under no illusions about how tough it’s going to be.
“These are the kind of challenges we want and need and as a group we can’t wait for Saturday to arrive.
“We’re really pleased to have got back to winning ways last time out.
“We showed some great intent with ball in hand and scored some fantastic tries. More pleasing was the defensive effort – we were very physical and to not concede a try was excellent.”
The club have confirmed centre Tom Hitchcock will remain at Butts Park Arena for the rest of the season following the departure of star centre Will Rigg to Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.
Hitchcock joined Cov on loan from Championship leaders Ealing Trailfinders last week as Rae moved swiftly to plug the gap left in his midfield resources by bringing in the 24-year-old.
Coventry’s clash with Doncaster takes place on Saturday, March 2 with kick-off at 2.30pm at Castle Park.
