RUGBY UNION - Coventry Rugby make raft of changes for Caldy clash

COVENTRY Rugby have made five changes for their weekend clash against Caldy following a match-winning contribution from their bench last time out.

Head coach Alex Rae hands just a second start to loosehead prop Jevaughn Warren after he made a big impact as a replacement in Cov’s win at Chinnor.

On-loan Exeter scrum-half Sam Maunder also earns a starting berth and will captain Coventry with club skipper Jordon Poole rotated to the bench.

That means Will Biggs starts at hooker for the first time this season while Senitiki Nayalo returns from British Army duty to partner Dan Green in the second row.

And Aaron Hinkley also starts on the opposite flank after stepping in at the eleventh-hour to feature against Chinnor.

Rae retains the same midfield trio which also featured in Oxfordshire with Tommy Mathews to wear the number 10 shirt.

And Jimmy Martin returns from paternity leave to start on the left wing with Charlie Robson handed a start at full-back.

Coventry’s bench features four backs and four forwards.

In the pack, Poole and Toby Trinder are joined by tighthead prop Eliot Salt and Suva Ma’asi.

Scrum-half Josh Barton is now the only player to feature in all of Cov’s 20 matchday squads this term with Theo Mannion, Ryan Hutler and Logan Trotter making up the club’s backs replacements.

Rae said: “Coming straight after a real battle last Saturday, Caldy will be another tough challenge.

“They’re another team like Chinnor who don’t ever seem to go away.

“We will have to do everything right because if we rest on our laurels we will quickly find ourselves in trouble.”
