COVENTRY Rugby have announced the signing of lock Rhys Anstey on a season-long loan from RFU Championship rivals Ealing Trailfinders.
The second row gained valuable experience with Cardiff in the Welsh Indigo Premiership and has appeared for Wales at various age groups.
And the 6ft 6in lock will link up with Coventry in time for the start of the 2023/24 season.
Coventry head coach, Alex Rae, said: “It’s great to be able to welcome Rhys in on loan, he’s a young man with plenty of potential.
“It’s now our job to help him develop areas of his game and make sure he really enjoys his rugby here at Coventry. Also, thanks to Ealing for placing their trust in us with helping Rhys develop.”
The 21-year-old was a member of Gwernyfed RFC before plying his trade in the Cardiff academy.
He has made more than 30 appearances for Cardiff over the last two seasons which includes his competitive debut in the Champions Cup against Toulouse in the 2021/22 season.
Following his time in the Welsh capital, Rhys signed for Ealing Trailfinders in February of this year and went out on loan to Richmond where he made four appearances.
