However, after an injury hit spell with the Reds, Hutler is hoping to rediscover his best form under former coach Rae.

Hutler said: “I’m delighted that Alex got in contact with regards to an opportunity at Coventry, and I’m really excited to be able to contribute to the journey that the club wants to go on.”

Rae added: “Ryan has had some tough luck with injuries while he’s been at Jersey, before that he was the league’s top scorer at Bedford and one of the best finishers around.

“He’s hungry now to play week-in, week-out and score more tries. We’re really excited to have him on board.”

Coventry have also confirmed that centre Will Wand has signed on for the 2023/24 campaign having scored three tries in 19 matches last season.

He will be joined by young fly half Evan Mitchell who has agreed to stay with the club next term having kicked numerous goals from the kicking tee over the course of last season.

And winger Louis James has re-signed for the 2023/24 campaign having become an integral part of Rae’s side since he came through the club’s academy.

Other players to sign on for next season include Ollie Betteridge, Will Biggs and George Smith whilst dynamic back-rower Paddy Ryan has joined the club from Championship rivals Ampthill.
