WASPS remain winless at the start of the Gallagher Premiership season after they fell to a disappointing 23-8 home defeat against Bristol Bears.
Despite Tom Cruse crossing for an early try, an 18-point haul from Callum Sheedy and a second-half try from Magnus Bradbury condemned Lee Blackett’s side to defeat at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The result means Wasps are down in 11th place in the Premiership standings with just a single losing bonus point from their opening two matches.
However, Wasps made a blistering start as Cruse crossed in the corner on five minutes from Charlie Atkinson’s pass after good work from Alfie Barbeary through the middle.
Bristol reduced the deficit to two points when Sheedy kicked a penalty before the same played dotted down on 19 minutes with a simple score before converting his own try.
Both teams added three points to their respective totals with a penalty apiece in the early knocking of the second half with Atkinson on target for Wasps and Sheedy for Bristol.
And Bristol crossed for their second converted try on 59 minutes when Bradbury touched down under the posts despite the best efforts of Barbeary after Charles Piutau broke the line.
Bristol made sure of the points late on when Sheedy rounded off a fine individual performance with a drop goal as Wasps were punished for a below par display.
Wasps are next in action against Newcastle Falcons TONIGHT (Tuesday, September 20) in the Premiership Rugby Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at the CBS Arena.
