SUPER League opposition await Coventry United Ladies in the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup after being drawn at home to Tottenham Hotspur in Monday night’s draw.
The Red and Greens recorded a memorable 4-1 win at St Mary’s Stadium against Southampton on Sunday, with Fiona Worts’ hat-trick and a goal from Shannon O’Brien enough to topple the Saints.
Stuart Wilson’s side went into the half-time period level following a goalless opening, but soon found their rhythm ten minutes after the interval when O’Brien started and finished an attacking move with Coventry’s first shot on target.
Four minutes later it was two, when Worts was well-placed to score, before the forward added her second on 65 minutes with a left-footed stroke into the corner.
Worts then completed her hat-trick in the closing moments, although there was still time for Southampton to mark their name on the scoresheet through Rachel Panting in stoppage time.
Coventry will now welcome Spurs for the fifth-round tie on Sunday, February 16.
Next up for United is a trip to London City Lionesses’ Princes Park stadium on Sunday (2pm) in an FA Women’s Championship encounter.
