Sidecar speedway set for Brandon return

Coventry Editorial 16th Sep, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

AFTER the success of the most recent sidecar speedway event in Brandon, organisers have confirmed the sport will return for another spectacle in Coventry next month.

The 1,000cc sidecar speedway returns to Brandon on October 2 for the eagerly anticipated Coventry Cracker.

After a four-year absence the sport returned to Brandon on August 6 for the Sidecar Shootout which was organised by the Heart of England Motorcycle Club and attrached a big turnout.

And the same organisers are close to finalising another top line-up which will once again be head by Rugby’s Mark Cossar.

Cossar is looking to boost the sport’s profile in Britain after completing a six-month tour of Australia and he won the last event at Brandon alongside Liam Brown.

The 29-year-old will be the man to beat in front of his own fans again with plenty of local interest too in the fortunes of his younger brother Tom Cossar, plus Pete Lloyd from nearby Marton.

Also back for a welcome return are the 500c sidecars, which proved a very popular addition to the card at the Shootout, with close and at times, controversial battles between Scott Dunn and Dave Carvill.

England promoter, Dan Crawford, said: “After such good feedback from the August event, it’s great to get some more sidecar speedway action in before the end of the season.”

Prices for the latest event are priced at £10 for adults while under-16s get to enter for free. The first race is scheduled for 7.30pm.
