Coventry City boss Russell Slade predicts he will know by the end of this week whether an experienced player will be added to the club.
He said: “There is a possibility of a late one coming in.
“We’ll probably know by the end of this week.
“He’s doing some training actually away at Lilleshall this week.
“He’s an experienced player. He’ll bring good know-how at the football club if we manage to get that one.”
He told the Coventry Observer it was the same player that the club were targeting last week.
He had told us he would be meeting a former Premier League out-of-contract player 10 days ago.
Several free agents and former Premier League players have been on the manager’s list for ‘attacking options’ including Kieran Richardson and Carlton Cole.
Our club sources told us last week the most likely capture was another anonymous former Premier League star.
It follows injury to big-name signing Yakubu, who Slade said yesterday could now be out for two weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered in the 3-1 he defeat to Swindon’s on Saturday.
