MARK Allen is the latest star to guarantee his place at the Cazoo World Grand Prix in Coventry this December – after winning the Northern Ireland Open.
Allen came from 8-6 down to beat John Higgins 9-8 and claim the sixth ranking title of his career – confirming his place in Coventry in the process.
The top 32 players on the one-year ranking list will qualify for the World Grand Prix which runs from December 13th to 19th at the Coventry Building Society Arena – televised by ITV.
Mark Williams currently tops the list with Allen second – also in line to qualify are Higgins (6th), Judd Trump (11th), Ronnie O’Sullivan (26th) and Mark Selby (27th).
The World Grand Prix was first played in 2015 and will be held in Coventry for the first time this December – with Trump hoping to defend his title.
Trump has won the event on three occasions with famous names Shaun Murphy, Barry Hawkins, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson the only other players to win the tournament.
