SNOOKER - Number one seed Xintong eliminated from World Grand Prix on opening night

TOP Seed Zhao Xintong was knocked out at the first hurdle of the Cazoo World Grand Prix on the opening night at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

 

Xintong won the UK Championship earlier this month but was unable to progress past the last 32 stage in Coventry after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Martin Gould.

 




Former world number one Mark Williams was also eliminated after the Welshman was beaten 4-3 by last year’s World Grand Prix runner-up Jack Lisowski.

 


Ninth seed Kyren Wilson also suffered a surprise defeat after he was knocked out 4-3 by Anthony Hamilton.

 

Elsewhere, Yan Bingtao won 4-1 against Mark King to secure his place in the last 16.

 

The schedule for today’s action can be seen below with Mark Selby, John Higgins, Judd Trump and Neil Robertson all set to take to the table.

 

1pm Mark Selby v Barry Hawkins, Ricky Walden v Stuart Bingham followed by John Higgins v Tom Ford and David Gilbert v Ali Carter.

7pm Judd Trump v Ben Woollaston, Anthony McGill v Stephen Maguire followed by Neil Robertson v Noppon Saengkham and Mark Allen v Cao Yupeng.
