ISSUE five of Coventry Speedway’s retro magazine THE BUZZ features one of the club’s longest-serving riders.
Stuart Robson represented the Bees in a total of 11 seasons over various spells, spanning three different decades and including a deserved Testimonial meeting in 2004.
Robson retired from the sport just under two years ago and has shared his recollections of his time at Brandon in an extensive interview.
Elsewhere, the 2001 Elite League season comes under the spotlight – a year in which the Bees only lost five away matches but still did not win the title!
A more successful time was the treble-winning campaign of 2007 and featured are the thoughts of the man who came into the team in mid-season – Steve Johnston – who made a major impression.
The Programme Vault section goes back exactly 40 years to August 1980 and a home clash with the Hull Vikings – with the chance to read the programme notes of both promoter Charles Ochiltree and team manger Peter Adams.
Current affairs are also extensively covered, including Bees’ interpretation of the proposed new building regulations, plus there is the latest from the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters’ Club and possibly the club’s most fiendish quiz yet!
Issue five is dated Monday, August 17 and is available from https://www.curtis-sport.com/online-store/Coventry-Bees-2020-Issue-5-p225231971 priced at £2.25 plus postage and packaging.
Previous issues are also still available at curtis-sport.com, including major features with the likes of Tommy Knudsen, Billy Hamill, Rick Miller and Mick Bell.
