FORMER British Senior and Veteran Cyclo Cross Champion Steve Knight was in devastating form at the weekend when he won the Redditch Cyclo Cross event at Pitcher Oak Woods.

The M.I.Racing rider was competing in only his second event of the season having won his first two weeks earlier in Shrewsbury.

Chasing him all the way was team mate and current Midland Series Champion Phil Blacker who made it a one and two finish for the Coventry-based club.

In the race for riders aged 50 and over Coventry’s Peter Busby came first while Tim Stowe placed fourth in the 55+ category.

Elsewhere, the team secured their tenth British Cycling National Championship of the season in South Wales.

Mick Allan won the 5km Scratch Championships at the British Veterans National Track Championships in Newport.

Allan also finished second in the 500mets time trial and third in the 5 km points race which is made all the more remarkable after breaking his collar bone and one rib just four weeks ago.

Current World Track Champion and former professional Derrick Wodings finished third in both the 5km points race and 5km scratch while also coming third in the 2km pursuit championships for riders over 70 year of age at the same meeting.

Elsewhere new team member Laura Fuller is starting to make her presence known after recording a personal best time of 26 minutes and 36 seconds in only her third open time trial.

Fuller took part in the 10-mile Coventry Road Club Open event at Princethorpe and followed that up with a third-place finish in the Cotswold Triathlon early on Sunday morning.
