Stuart Colegate aiming for an England call-up

Coventry Editorial 6th Aug, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

COVENTRY and North Warwickshire player Stuart Colegate staked his claims for an England Masters call-up – and a potential World Cup adventure in Australia –  after lining up in a charity exhibition match.

Colegate made his England debut in a Masters Select XI, selected by Stratford’s Ajan Reginald, which played the Hockey for Heroes representative team in Solihull.

The match, which England won 3-2, served a dual purpose marked the opening of a new clubhouse at Old Silhililians, and collecting cash for the Hockey for Heroes, which aims to raise £30,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

But it also allowed England Masters Over-40s manager Andy Taylor the chance to scout potential players and he said Colegate would be involved in trials ahead of next year’s World Cup in Canberra, Australia.

Colegate was a reserve for England  in the Home Nationas tournament in Edinburgh.
