NETBALL: WASPS Netball’s Superleague winning stars will form the team’s squad at this year’s British Fast 5 All-Stars tournament at The 02 Arena in London this September.

Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway has selected 10 of her Vitality Netball Superleague winning squad to compete in the tournament.

The reigning Superleague champions will face seven other teams on the day, including Loughborough Lightning, Surrey Storm and Severn Stars, in a new fast-paced netball format.

Teams will play up to three matches, each lasting 12 minutes.

There will be multiple point shots on offer – including a five point shot – and a double point power play introduced.

The eight five-player sides will compete in a double elimination group stage for a spot in the semi-finals, with the winners taking home £25,000.

Wasps Netball’s squad for the tournament includes star shooters Rachel Dunn, George Fisher and Lucy Parize.

They will be joined by mid-court dynamos Natalie Haythornthwaite, Lucy Harris and Amy Flanagan.

Defensive stars Sam May, Fran Williams, Hannah Reid and Josie Huckle will complete the ten-player squad.

All teams had the option to select two global all-star players for their squad but Greenway says she wanted to put her trust in her Superleague winning team.

She added: “We’re going to the Fast 5 tournament in September with one goal and that is to come away as winners.

“We had the choice to select two global stars to our squad, but these players are Superleague champions and I believe this group can beat anyone when at their best.

“It’s a new game type which encourages expressive netball and I think that fits our team perfectly.

“Hopefully we can put on a good performance and deliver some more silverware for our fans.”
