SWIMMING - Artistic swimmers win eight medals at Regional Novice competition

RUGBY Swimming Club’s artistic swimmers produced a fantastic set of results to come away with eight medals at the annual Regional Novice competition.

Swimmers below grade three and those new to the sport showcased their potential as Rugby won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

Rugby swept the board in the grade one 13 to 15-years-old section as Alice Pavlova won gold, Daisy Clark took silver and Isabella Franks claimed bronze.

Additionally, Charlotte Wilkins won silver in the grade zero element for swimmers aged 10-years-old and under whilst Caitlin-Rose Smith took bronze.

Moreover, Beatrice Banks came away with bronze against tough competition in the grade two 13 to 15-years-old section.

Earlier, Rugby’s swimmers settled their nerves with the figures competition with many taking part in their first competition.

And Rugby’s 13 to 15-years-old team produced a sensational ‘Mambo’ routine in the team event to storm to the gold medal whilst the club’s ‘Encanto’ team won bronze.

The gold-medal winning team comprised of: Banks, Mabel Chapman, Franks, Isabella Flaig, Isobel Byrne, Jemma King, Daisy Jenkins, Pavlova, Georgina Stoddart, Kara Duckett and Clark.

And the bronze medallists were: Ruth Ho, Ellie Browne, Connie Long, Isabelle McManus, Daniel Rodrigues and Jemima Parkinson.

However, Rugby’s 12 and under combo team just missed out on a medal to finish fourth despite a confident swim.

The team comprised of Elise Kelly, Smith, Lottie Wilkins, Sophie Croft, Sophia Myronova, Lucy King, Kara Anstruther, Isobelle Watkins, Melinda Bogdanova and Molly Heard.

All of Rugby’s swimmers demonstrated hard work and commitment in the run up to the event and showed great skill and resolve on the day with many competing at their first competition.
