SACRED Heart Catholic School claimed a fourth successive title at the annual Coventry Catholic Primary Schools Swimming Gala.

Some 16 schools took part in the gala at Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton with the event split into two heats – east and west Coventry.

The annual competition saw 18 children from year four, year five and year six, from each participating school, compete in a series of races to earn points for their respective teams.

And the eight schools with the lowest points totals advanced to the finals.

Sacred Heart topped the east standings with Saint John Vianney leading the way in the west section.

The finals proved a tight affair with video technology required to determine the final placements.

And Sacred Heart retained their title for the fourth consecutive year while Saint John Vianney finished as runners-up.

Making up the rest of the top eight were Saint John Fisher, All Souls, Christ the King, Saint Thomas More, Corpus Christi and Holy Family.

The other schools to take part were Saint Gregory’s, Good Shepherd, Saints Peter and Paul, Saint Patrick’s, Saint Anne’s, Saint Augustine’s, Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Osburg’s.
