TRANSFER - Coventry Blaze add Billings to roster

COVENTRY Blaze have announced the signing of American forward Jack Billings for the 2022/23 season.

The 26-year-old joins the club from the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL where, in his debut professional season, he scored 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) in 39 games.

Prior to turning pro, right-shot Billings iced two seasons for Niagara University (NCAA) of whom current Blaze forward Johnny Curran is also a graduate.

Billings scored 19 goals over the two years from 2019-21, the most on the team and also added 21 assists for a total of 40 points in 54 games.

A native of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Billings grew up playing youth hockey in Chicagoland for Chicago Fury and skated for NCAA Division III Salve Regina University from 2016-18 before transferring to Niagara.

Head Coach Danny Stewart said: “Jack is a very well rounded player that can both score goals and distribute. He has a great hockey head, good speed and is coming off a good season in Iowa.

“He has got better every year since going to college, moving up to Division 1 and then on to pro. We feel we are getting him at the right time in his career.”
