COVENTRY City have made their second loan signing of the transfer window with the arrival of Jonathan Panzo from Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old defender has signed for City on a season-long loan from the newly-promoted Premier League club and joins Kasey Palmer and Callum Doyle as the club’s new recruits.
Panzo has been capped by England up to under-21 level and started in the final as his country won the FIFA under-17 World Cup in 2017.
He came through the youth ranks at Chelsea before making the switch to then French champions Monaco in July 2018.
Mark Robins told ccfc.co.uk: “We are delighted to be able to bring Jonathan to Coventry City.
“He is someone we know well and he’s someone we’ve wanted to bring in for a long time.
“Jonathan is a really good player. He’s young and hungry and he wants to do well and we are looking forward to working with him.
“He’s versatile, he can play on the left of a three, in a four and on the left-hand side and he helps us in that area after losing Jake Clarke-Salter and Ian Maatsen.
“I’d also like to thank Steve Cooper and Nottingham Forest for their cooperation in getting this deal complete.”
After an impressive spell with the club’s second team, Panzo made two Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco before spending time on loan at Belgian club Cercle Brugge during the 2019/20 season.
The young defender made a permanent move to Dijon in August 2020 and spent two further seasons in France before signing for Nottingham Forest in January earlier this year.
He made a solitary appearance for Forest on the final day of the 2021/22 Championship season as the club went on to secure promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.
